Manager, Care Services

Position Summary The Care Services Manager is responsible for developing professional and community relationships that enable the Association to provide care and support to those living with ALS. The role manages care services programs, ensures uniform high‑quality service delivery, and may supervise care services staff within an assigned territory. The Manager also facilitates education, benefit, and clinical resource navigation assistance to persons diagnosed with ALS and their caregivers. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct specialized care consultations and needs assessments for people living with ALS, their caregivers, and families experiencing complex needs. Actively manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring client and caregiver needs are met within the capabilities of The ALS Association. May manage field staff in an assigned territory to ensure clients receive needed programs and services. Provide information on programs, services, resources, and educational materials, and may oversee program(s). Coordinate referrals to and partnerships with healthcare providers and community agencies. Evaluate, facilitate, and ensure the effectiveness of support groups in meeting the ALS community's needs. In collaboration with the CS Director and Managing Director, plan the implementation of program outcomes and evaluation processes. Ensure quarterly contact/engagement with those living with ALS and/or their caregivers. Document all pertinent engagements with persons living with ALS, family, caregivers, or other healthcare professionals and ensure Care Services staff documents all engagements per Standards. Educate and inform the general public and professionals about ALS, its management, related research, and the services and mission of The ALS Association. Serve as a member of the ALS Clinic multidisciplinary team and act as liaison between the clinic and The Association; develop and maintain clinic relationships through ongoing interactions with clinic directors and the team. Provide professional in‑service educational programs to ALSA staff and healthcare professionals such as home health and hospice agencies, Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers, and Skilled Nursing Facilities. Participate in continuing education seminars, workshops, and conferences as available and necessary to gain knowledge on related topics. Provide mentoring opportunities to new staff. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in social work, case management, health administration, allied and public health, nursing, or a related area is required. Minimum of four years of related professional experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to utilize management skills such as problem‑solving, solid reasoning, critical thinking, budget/program planning, performance improvement, organizational planning, implementation, and monitoring performance standards. Knowledge of ALS is a plus, but not required. Experience with progressive neurodegenerative disease. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, patient assessment skills, planning, and case management preferred. Pay Transparency The ALS Association's pay range for this position is $50,649 - $79,346. Compensation may vary by primary work location.
