Custodian - Jerome HS, 2nd Shift (2:30pm-11pm)To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.Qualifications: A high school diploma or training and experiences that are considered equivalent. Proficiency in general repair, painting, cleaning, and operating of cleaning equipment. Ability to communicate in a courteous manner. Neat appearance. Ability to carry out assigned duties. Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.Duties include keeping the building and premises neat and clean at all times, notifying head custodian, maintenance supervisor or principal of emergencies, shoveling and salting walks, driveways, and steps, checking daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly, cleaning assigned classrooms daily, scrubbing, mopping down, and disinfecting toilet and lunch room floors daily, washing all windows on both the inside and outside as frequently as necessary, emptying all trash cans daily, cleaning all chalkboards at least once a week, making minor building repairs, reporting major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian, reporting immediately to the head custodian any damage to school property, remaining on the school premises during scheduled hours, excluding lunch, and during non school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance required, assuming responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day, keeping an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel, moving furniture and/or equipment as required, complying with all federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material, reporting immediately to the building principal any student or public misconduct in the building or on the grounds, reporting immediately to the head custodian any safety hazards pertaining to playground equipment, steps, halls, and all other parts of the building and grounds, ensuring the safety of students, establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships, remaining free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district, exhibiting professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment, serving as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings, understanding the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values, maintaining confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
