The Center’s work is carried out by a staff of about 170.**Position Summary**The Video Producer and Editor will help shape Pew Research Center's video strategy, independently leading the production of engaging short-form video content across platforms. Working in close partnership with the Head of Video, this role moves fluidly between writing, editing, and motion graphics, and brings it to life in Premiere and After Effects.This role also requires real organizational fluency: you’ll be a trusted creative partner to researchers and subject-matter experts, guiding them through a process that may be unfamiliar and helping them communicate their work in ways that resonate with audiences. ***This is a term-limited, grant-funded position expected to extend two years.*****Primary Responsibilities***Production, Editing, and Animation (60%)** Independently produce and edit video content for Pew Research Center's website and social media platforms, including flagship releases and high-visibility research.* Originate and lead video concepts tied to major research releases, taking projects from concept through final delivery, coordinating research teams, designers, social media teams, and audience experts.* Build and maintain a reusable library of motion graphics and MOGRT templates that establish the visual standard for the team's data and research-driven video content.* Own post-production workflows across multiple concurrent projects, including editing, sound mixing, color correction, captioning, and platform-specific formatting.* Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure timely publication aligned with research releases and responsive to audience needs.* Support studio and field shoots as needed, with working knowledge of camera operation, lighting, and audio.* Ensure all video content aligns with Pew Research Center's editorial standards, brand guidelines, and commitment to nonpartisanship.*Data Visualization and Storytelling (20%)** Translate research data in collaboration with research teams to create social-friendly, visually driven stories finding the storytelling angle inside a dataset and building animation and motion graphics around it.* Establish and evolve the team's approach to data-driven storytelling on short-form, social-native platforms, testing and setting direction on new visual styles based on performance.*Collaboration and Workflow (20%)** Partner with research, design, digital, and audience teams to translate research into engaging video content, adjusting your process to fit stakeholders who range from video-fluent to first-timers.* Incorporate feedback with professionalism and grace and explain creative choices by connecting them back to the key message and audience need.* Review and approve deliverables from freelance editors and animators against editorial and brand standards.* Provide guidance to other staff on the fundamentals of video production, serving as an approachable creative partner to colleagues who don't work in video day-to-day.**Education/Training/Experience*** B.A. or equivalent professional experience.* 5-7 years of experience producing and editing high-quality short-form video content.* Demonstrated ability to translate complex research findings into clear, accurate, and engaging visual narratives.* Demonstrated experience writing scripts that uphold editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, and nonpartisanship, even under tight production timelines.* Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.* Strong command of reading data graphs, toplines, spreadsheets and translating that analysis into animation choices that make a finding legible at a glance.* Strong producing skills: Lead video production from planning through delivery, developing clear production plans, managing timelines and deliverables, and keeping projects on track to meet deadlines.* Exercising sound editorial judgment on framing, word choice, and imagery, to ensure every piece reflects Pew Research Center's strict standard of nonpartisanship.**FLSA Status: Exempt**The typical starting salary for this position is $91,035.**Hybrid Work Schedule:**Pew Research Center staff are required to be present in the Center’s Washington, D.C., office three core days weekly (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
