Job Description At FOLKS, we are building a talent pool for potential future opportunities as an FX Artist. We currently do not have any open positions for this role; however, we would like to connect with professionals who have experience in visual effects for film, television, and high-end projects, so we can consider them when new needs arise in the future. We are looking for artists with strong experience in Houdini, artistic judgment, technical thinking, and a passion for creating high-quality simulations and visual effects. The ideal person enjoys collaborating with creative and technical teams, solving complex visual challenges, and contributing solutions that uphold FOLKS' quality standards. Works closely with: FX, Lookdev, and Lighting artists, as well as project supervisors. Responsibilities Create 3D visual effects for film, television, and high-end content projects. Propose artistic, creative, and technically feasible ideas that respond to the visual needs of the project and the client. Develop particle simulations, fire, smoke, dust, liquids, destruction, atmospheric effects, and other visual phenomena according to production requirements. Create 3D effects using Houdini, ensuring visual consistency, realism, and technical quality. Collaborate with CG supervisors, FX artists, and other production teams to integrate effects into the project workflow. Support the development of tools, processes, and solutions that enable the efficient production of high-quality effects. Render, review, and validate your own work to ensure the final images meet the expected technical and artistic standards. Deliver high-quality visual effects aligned with FOLKS' creative, technical, and visual standards. Qualifications Previous experience in live-action visual effects for feature films or high-end television. Demonstrated creative ability and artistic talent in previous work, reel, or portfolio. Strong knowledge of Houdini. Experience creating a wide variety of simulations, such as destruction, atmospheric effects, fluids, supernatural phenomena, and other complex visual effects. Understanding of physics, realistic motion, and natural phenomena at different scales. Excellent technical skills, ability to learn new tools quickly, and motivation to stay up to date with industry trends and technologies. Open attitude toward growth, learning new methods, and sharing knowledge with the team. Ability to work autonomously and solve technical challenges independently. Willingness to receive direction, collaborate with the team, and perform effectively under demanding deadlines. Excellent communication skills and an open-minded approach. Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative, dynamic, and fast-paced environment. Valued Knowledge Experience or knowledge in particle simulations, destruction, smoke, dust, fire, liquids, blood, ocean surfaces, rain, snow, sparks, fog, cloth, crowds, grooming, geometry deformers, procedural modeling, element distribution, vegetation, render troubleshooting, and tools such as Houdini, Nuke, Katana, Unreal Engine, VEX, MEL, Python, and ShotGrid, as well as participation in daily review workflows, will be valued.
