Description

American Traveler seeks a Pediatric Cardiac Surgical Technologist for a 13-week assignment supporting complex congenital and cardiac surgical procedures.

Details

• Pediatric CVOR unit supporting complex cardiac, congenital, hybrid, transcatheter, and robotic-assisted procedures
• Monday-Friday day shift schedule, 0700-1530, with some weeks consisting of four 10-hour shifts depending on OR case volume
• Call requirement rotating weekly between 1st call and 2nd call, beginning at the end of the scheduled workday and continuing until the following morning
• High-acuity pediatric cardiac OR environment

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or nationally certified surgical technologist
• Minimum of 2 years of surgical technologist experience in an acute care setting
• Cardiac and congenital heart surgical experience strongly preferred
• AHA BLS required
• CST certification highly preferred (license required if applicable)
• ACLS preferred
• Experience with cardiopulmonary bypass and perfusion workflows preferred
• Experience with hybrid OR, transcatheter, or robotic-assisted procedures preferred
• Pediatric cardiovascular surgical skills preferred, including arterial switch, ASD/VSD repair, Fontan, Norwood, Tetralogy of Fallot repair, and valve repair/replacement
• Must be available to participate in alternating 1st-call and 2nd-call rotation
• Must be comfortable working in a high-acuity pediatric cardiac OR setting

Additional Information

• Serve as the primary scrub technologist for complex cardiac and congenital heart procedures
• Prepare and manage specialized cardiac instruments, implants, grafts, valves, and devices
• Set up and maintain the sterile field
• Perform surgical counts and participate in surgical time-out procedures
• Support specimen handling according to hospital policy
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, perfusionists, anesthesia providers, RNs, and other surgical staff
• Support cardiopulmonary bypass, hybrid OR, cardiac catheterization, and robotic procedures as applicable
• Maintain physician preference cards and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for scheduled cases
• Anticipate procedural needs and respond calmly and independently during complex or emergent cardiac procedures
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, patient safety standards, and cardiac-specific protocols
• ASAP starts encouraged, with pending background checks and labs potentially accepted if comparable documentation is current within the past 12 months
