Job Description

The Maintenance Technician II – Mechatronics & Robotics supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, automated packaging systems, and robotic distribution technologies in a large, fast-paced facility. This role focuses on troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, performing preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring high equipment uptime across a highly automated environment. Candidates must be open to working any 10-hour shift.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment, including automated conveyor systems and related controls.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment, robotic systems, and pneumatic components, following established procedures and documentation requirements.
• Conduct battery changes and perform preventive maintenance on industrial batteries to ensure reliable equipment operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Enter downtime data into daily logs, complete preventive maintenance (PM) sheets, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Manage work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring tasks are updated, prioritized, and completed on time.
• Track, store, and organize department inventory, including spare parts and critical components, to minimize equipment downtime.
• Apply knowledge of basic electrical components and electronic principles when diagnosing and repairing equipment issues.
• Support conveyor system installations, adjustments, and design changes as needed to improve material flow and reliability.
• Perform diagnostics on automated distribution and conveyor systems, including controls and robotics, to maintain optimal performance.
• Follow and demonstrate safety standards at all times, including adherence to equipment-specific and OEM safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete mechanical repairs and adjustments on industrial equipment.
• Support troubleshooting of basic input and output functions related to building and equipment operations.
• Contribute to a data-driven environment by meeting performance expectations and using metrics to guide maintenance priorities.

Essential Skills

• At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventive maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
• 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles.
• 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or facilities maintenance environment.
• 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing MHE systems, including conveyors and related automation.
• 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with automated conveyor systems in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on conveyor systems and other automated distribution equipment.
• Ability to read and work from mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• High school diploma or equivalent education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and creating work orders.
• Hands-on experience maintaining conveyors and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics.
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for managing work orders and maintenance history.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions related to building and equipment operations.
• Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and industry safety guidelines.
• Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to enhance maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a rapidly evolving robotics and mechatronics environment.
• Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields, or equivalent technical education.
• 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
• 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems, including basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in a high-speed, automated facility.
• Comfort using hand and power tools, and working with motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical repair tasks.
• Ability to interpret and work with industrial automation and distribution automation system software is a plus.

Work Environment

You will work in a large, modern distribution facility equipped with high-speed automation, advanced conveyor systems, and extensive robotic components. The environment is fast-paced and performance-driven, with systems in place to track maintenance activity and productivity through data and metrics, while avoiding unnecessary micromanagement. The role requires comfort with being on your feet for extended periods, walking significant distances—often around 10,000 steps per day—and safely lifting up to 49 pounds as part of normal duties. You will work with a variety of industrial tools and technologies, including material handling equipment, robotics, PLC-based control systems, and CMMS software. All candidates must be open to working any 10-hour shift, as positions are available across multiple shifts to support around-the-clock operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
