Position

The primary focus of an Instructor will be to teach Snapology camp programs. Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Camps are conducted for children ages 5-12. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Lead groups of up to 20 students through curriculum-guided activities
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• Have fun and create a fun experience for the children
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
• Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions
• Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
• Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
• Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required

Skills

• A clear Criminal and Child Abuse Registry screening
• Experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment
• Education degree or teaching experience recommended for Lead Instructors
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
• Have reliable, insured transportation to transport materials and conduct mobile classes around the east side of Atlanta

Camp Details:

• Locations: Decatur, Virginia Highlands, and Chamblee
• Dates: Summer Break (5/26-7/31)
• Camp Hours: 8:45-1:00, 9-3, and 9-4, or 3:00-5:30 (depending on week/location)

Other (Optional) Shifts Available:

• Field Trips and Daytime Events: 1-4 hours in length and occur during the school day
• After-School Classes: 1-2 hours in length and occur between 2:00pm–6:00pm on school days
• Evening/Weekend Classes: 1-4 hours in length and occur in the evenings and on weekends
• Evening/Weekend Workshops: 2-4 hours in length and occur during the evening and on weekends
• Birthday Parties: 2 hours in length and occur on weekends
