At A Beautiful Mind, Inc., our employees are driven by a deep sense of service, high standards of professionalism, and a responsibility to better the public good. We offer a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for professional growth and development. We are currently seeking an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapist (EMDR) passionate about delivering high-quality services in a secure institutional setting. Join a team dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of the people and communities we serve, and be part of our inspiring mission to better the public good.

The Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) role is a specialized, community-based position focused on providing individual and family therapy. Interventions should be strengths-based and focused on promoting symptom stability, increasing the recipient's ability to cope and relate to others, and enhancing the highest level of functioning in the community. Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the EMDR Therapist requires a deep understanding of the principles and techniques of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, the ability to connect with clients in a compassionate and empowering manner, and confidence in working with trauma. As an EMDR therapist, you will work collaboratively with clients to help them develop skills to improve their quality of life. We are committed to your professional development and will provide the support and resources you need. The EMDR Therapist must be passionate about delivering excellent client care, exercise good judgment and initiative, work independently, and demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills. This position offers the opportunity to exercise sound judgment and initiative, work independently, and grow professionally. Professional demeanor and appearance are required.

Roles and responsibilities will include the following, but not limited to:

  • Provide a diagnosis after the first session.
  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes promptly/contemporaneously as consistent with the relevant state licensing boards.
  • Conduct follow-up with clients and/or collateral contacts as needed, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to their well-being.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: Keep detailed and confidential records of client progress, treatment plans, and session notes. Accurate documentation is vital for continuity of care and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all notes, reinforcing our commitment to responsible and ethical practice.
  • Promote a safe therapeutic environment: Create an atmosphere of safety and trust that encourages clients to express themselves openly. A supportive environment is critical for effective therapy.
  • Stay updated on EMDR research: Continuously engage in professional development by staying informed about new research and techniques in EMDR. This commitment ensures the use of evidence-based practices.
  • Stay updated on DBT research: Continuously engage in professional development by staying informed about new research and techniques in DBT. This commitment ensures the use of evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in supervision and peer support: Engage in regular supervision and consultation with other therapists to discuss cases and receive feedback. This practice fosters professional growth and enhances therapeutic skills.
Qualifications:

  • EMDR certification.
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling.
  • At least three years of experience working with trauma survivors, particularly in systemic oppression, interpersonal violence, and abuse.
  • Advanced training or supervision in EMDR trauma-specific intervention is required for this position, as it equips EMDR therapy professionals with the necessary skills to provide specialized care to trauma survivors.
