Senior Lead Software Engineer, Backend Engineering

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience
• Hands-on software development experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, C++ or Python
• Deep knowledge and experience in three of these four areas, with developing knowledge in the remaining area: high-throughput, low-latency microservices using AWS services such as EKS, ECS, Fargate or ELB; near-real-time stream processing using services such as Kinesis, Flink, ECS or EKS; caching systems such as Redis; and large-volume data processing using Ray, Spark or similar technologies
• Strong fundamentals in containers and the Docker ecosystem, container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes and ECS, and DAG orchestration tools such as Airflow and Kubeflow
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, application resiliency and security
• Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for activities such as coding, code review, test acceleration and troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency requirements; experience coaching senior engineers or leads on compliant practices and controls
• Preferred: Experience with recommendation and personalization systems

• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others
• Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and technical teams, contractors and vendors
• Drive decisions that shape product design, application functionality, technical operations and processes
• Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas
• Contribute to the engineering community by advocating for firmwide frameworks, tools and software development lifecycle practices
• Influence peers and project decision-makers to consider and adopt leading-edge technologies
• Promote adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed and operational outcomes, including code review and refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness and incident or root-cause analysis
• Establish measurable validation standards, including secure coding, peer review and automated testing, and encourage reuse of proven patterns and automation within the software development lifecycle and technology lifecycle management toolchain
• Apply software development lifecycle toolchain capabilities, including approved AI-assisted development and automation tools, to increase the value of automation at scale
