Role Description The Substance Abuse Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Nicholasville, KY. This position is responsible for providing individual and group counseling to patients with substance use disorders, using evidence-based practices and trauma-informed approaches. Day-to-day tasks include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing and updating individualized treatment plans, and coordinating services with medical and behavioral health professionals. The counselor will provide psychoeducation on addiction and recovery, support relapse prevention strategies, and maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The role also involves ongoing communication with patients, families, and community resources to promote engagement, continuity of care, and positive clinical outcomes. Qualifications Demonstrated ability in Treatment Planning and Case Management to develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans. Knowledge of Chemical Dependency and substance use disorders, including evidence-based interventions and recovery models. Experience in Relapse Prevention, including teaching coping skills and supporting long-term recovery strategies. Understanding of Mental Health concerns and co-occurring disorders, with the ability to collaborate in integrated care settings. Relevant licensure or certification (e.g., CADC, LCADC, LPCC, LCSW, or equivalent) in compliance with Kentucky state requirements. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to build therapeutic rapport across diverse populations.
