Payroll Support Specialist

Job Description Hybrid in Houston, TX. 1‑year contract with extension option; potential for full‑time conversion. Responsibilities Process biweekly and monthly payrolls for 1,200 to 2,000 employees located in various states, including reconciliation of earnings, deductions, and taxes. Run audit reports and submit payroll reconciliations to management for review and approval. Work with managers to ensure that non‑exempt employees’ time is approved by the established deadline. Enter payroll data as needed. Carry out payroll tax adjustments and company re‑classifications. Process on‑demand payments and manual payments as required. Handle EIB loads. Run and audit payroll integrations. Set up and audit tax and payment elections. Correct W‑2 forms as needed. Set up garnishment and tax levy schedules. Distribute payroll checks and pay slips to employees. Manage case management and the payroll help line—assist HR, benefits, and employees with payroll‑related questions. Support special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications At least 2 years of corporate payroll processing experience. General knowledge of payroll principles, including overtime and tax withholding calculations. Excellent organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills. Strong problem‑solving and mathematical abilities. Proficiency with Excel and Word. Excellent customer‑service orientation and work ethic. Effective oral, written, and listening communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a team player. Willingness to work in the office during the training period and as needed. Availability to work overtime when required.
