Position Information Position Title: Lecturer of Psychology Requisition: 202600067F Rank: Lecturer (FLSA status: Exempt) Hiring Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Position Category/Type: Full‑Time, Non‑Tenure Track College: College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Department: Department of Psychology and Philosophy Open Date: 05/12/2026 Duties The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a Full‑Time Lecturer to begin in the Fall 2026 semester. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching various experimental courses at the undergraduate level, including research methods, statistics, cognition, learning, physiological, or social psychology. Teaching load: Teach 6–8 undergraduate courses per academic year, with possibility of teaching additional courses during the summer if desired and potential for graduate courses if the candidate meets the qualifications. Present a working knowledge of relevant curricula. Mentor undergraduate students as appropriate. Educational Requirements Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree in Psychology, with preference for a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited university prior to the start date. Experience Required Candidates are expected to have previous experience and education in statistics and research methods. Instructors with training and/or experience in online instruction are encouraged to apply, although the primary teaching responsibilities are expected to be for face‑to‑face instruction. Other Requirements The application will require the following materials: a cover letter describing the applicant’s interest in Sam Houston State University and potential contributions to the Department of Psychology and Philosophy; a statement describing the applicant’s philosophy and methods of teaching; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; a list of three references; transcripts for all graduate education.
