The primary purpose of this position is to provide mechanical engineering technical services in support of aircraft component manufacturing and repair facilities planning, facilities, utilizations, and other special plans/programs/projects significant to the Air Logistics Complex's mission requirements. Provides mechanical engineering technical assistance to engineers in the design of aircraft facilities' systems. Provides the design of the facility layout necessary and initiates the appropriate actions to meet the requirements. Responsible for the design and/or modification to aerospace ground equipment. Evaluates design objectives, performs complex technical calculations, identifies most economical and efficient procedures for design/modification and performance considering all influences. Preforms preparation/presentation of correspondence, report and briefings in a timely manner and coordinates project with engineers/technicians in other disciplines. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete. Complies with fire, health, safety, security and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Works to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services.

Requirements:

- Obtain & maintain a security clearance

- May have extended/other than normal duty hours

- The employee may be required to serve on base technical committees or serve as division focal point on specific technical matters.

- May act as project liaison with other design agencies as required.

- The employee may be required to work overtime, including emergencies.

KSAs:

1. Knowledge of mechanical engineering technician practices, methods, processes, operations, and techniques related to facilities and aerospace ground equipment. Knowledge of current Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology and practices essential for the accomplishment of mechanical engineering technician work.

2. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effectively accomplish assignments. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.

3. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to recognize, analyze, conduct research, interpret, summarize, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.

4. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute multi-facet projects and/or studies with engineering disciplines within financial and time constraints. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, negotiate, advise others, maintain good working relations, Meet and deal with customers using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Ability to originate new ideas, projects, studies, and methodologies. Ability to apply lean, safety, security, and health principles, practices, and procedures and to understand and apply internal management procedures.
