Key responsibilities

• Meal preparation — Assist with preparing and plating meals following standardized recipes and resident diet orders, including therapeutic, texture-modified, and allergen-restricted diets.
• Meal service — Serve meals in the dining room or deliver trays to resident rooms, ensuring correct portions, temperatures, and presentation.
• Dietary compliance — Verify trays against diet cards and communicate any concerns or changes in resident dietary needs to nursing or dietary staff.
• Sanitation & cleaning — Wash dishes, clean kitchen surfaces, sanitize equipment, and maintain a safe, hygienic food-service environment following infection-control standards.
• Inventory support — Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to minimize waste.
• Record keeping — Maintain accurate logs of meals served, temperatures, and special diet requirements.
• Team communication — Coordinate with dietary staff, nurses, and care teams to support resident nutrition plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a nursing home or healthcare food-service setting preferred.
