Mechanical Engineer - Data Centers

Within NEI, our Data Center Infrastructure Solutions team is transforming how data centers are built—delivering modular, scalable solutions that accelerate deployment, reduce risk, and support the rapid growth of AI and cloud technologies. SLB New Energy & Industrial is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of modular data center infrastructure. This role focuses on mechanical and piping systems, supporting projects from design through manufacturing and commissioning. This is a hands‑on engineering role ideal for candidates with 3–10 years of experience in mechanical design and a strong interest in large‑scale infrastructure or data centers. Roles And Responsibilities Develop and review mechanical and piping designs for data center modules Check and approve engineering drawings, layouts, and documentation Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure designs meet project and code requirements Review vendor drawings and technical submittals (vendor experience is a strong plus) Support preparation of technical requisitions and equipment specifications Assist with material take‑offs (MTOs) and bills of materials (BOMs) Partner with manufacturing teams to support build and resolve design issues Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of products Qualifications And Experience Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field) 3–10 years of mechanical design experience Experience with piping systems and mechanical equipment design Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, NFPA, etc.) Experience reviewing or working with vendor drawings/submittals preferred Proficiency with CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US without sponsorship Nice to Have Data center, industrial, or modular construction experience Exposure to cooling systems, pumps, valves, or fire protection systems EIT or PE certification (not required) Equal Employment Opportunity & Veterans Company policy is to provide every individual a fair and equal opportunity to seek employment and advancement at the Company without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, citizenship, genetic information, veteran or military status, disability, creed, ancestry, pregnancy, marital status, or any factors protected by federal, state, or local laws.
