Job Description
Web Developer - AI, E-Commerce & Internal Systems
Marketing Department | Inventive-Group | Mountain Home, Idaho | On-Site Only
WordPress | Shopify | Custom In-House Software | AI/ML, LLMs & Agent Workflows
Position Summary
Inventive-Group is looking for a hands-on Web Developer who can help us build, maintain, and improve the digital systems that support our growing Made in America manufacturing brands. This role sits inside the Marketing department, but it is more than a traditional website role. The right person will develop in WordPress, Shopify, and our custom in-house software while helping us thoughtfully implement AI/ML, large language models, automations, and agent-based workflows that make our websites, content processes, customer experience, and internal tools more effective.
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys moving between multiple brands, multiple projects, and multiple types of work: e-commerce improvements, front-end development, integrations, troubleshooting, internal tools, AI-enabled workflows, and fast-turn marketing support. We do everything in-house, from inventing and manufacturing products to distributing them worldwide, so you will be close to the products, the people, and the impact of your work.
Our Brands
- In The Ditch® Towing Products - intheditch.com
- Razorback Offroad RBO® Products - razorbackoffroad.com
- Fish Fighter® Products - fishfighterproducts.com
- Inventive® Products - inventiveproductsinc.com
What You Will Do
- Design, build, maintain, and improve responsive, mobile-first websites across Inventive-Group brands.
- Develop and support WordPress and Shopify websites, including themes, templates, product pages, landing pages, forms, plugins, apps, and custom functionality.
- Write, review, and troubleshoot code for websites, web applications, integrations, and internal tools.
- Support and extend custom in-house software, including front-end interfaces, internal workflows, dashboards, data connections, and system integrations.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations, and leadership to turn business needs into practical digital solutions.
- Implement e-commerce improvements that support product education, conversion, customer experience, SEO, dealer support, and brand consistency.
- Evaluate and improve site performance, accessibility, security, browser/device compatibility, structured data, and technical SEO.
- Maintain clean development, staging, and production workflows with version control, testing, documentation, and quality checks.
- Provide clear technical explanations, project updates, and documentation so non-technical team members understand options, tradeoffs, and next steps.
AI/ML, LLM & Agent Implementation
- Identify practical ways to use AI/ML, LLMs, and agent-based workflows to improve marketing operations, e-commerce, product information management, customer support, internal search, content workflows, and reporting.
- Build and maintain AI-enabled tools using APIs, structured prompts, retrieval-augmented generation, vector/search databases, workflow automation, and human-review checkpoints where appropriate.
- Connect AI tools to real business systems through APIs, webhooks, data pipelines, forms, documents, product data, CRM/e-commerce exports, or internal databases.
- Develop prompt libraries, reusable workflows, internal assistants, and task-specific agents that support repeatable, brand-safe work instead of one-off experiments.
- Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, usefulness, brand fit, privacy, and risk; document limitations and build safeguards into workflows.
- Stay current on practical AI development trends and help the team understand what is useful, what is hype, and what can be safely implemented now.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years preferred for candidates who have owned projects from concept through launch.
- Strong experience with WordPress and/or Shopify development, including theme customization and custom functionality.
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, JSON, Liquid, REST APIs, and responsive/mobile-first development.
- Working knowledge of MySQL, hosting environments, DNS, cPanel or similar tools, and common web troubleshooting practices.
- Experience with Git or another version-control workflow.
- Ability to work across multiple brands and concurrent projects without losing attention to detail.
- Comfortable learning and contributing to custom in-house software, even when documentation is imperfect and priorities move quickly.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly as part of development, research, debugging, documentation, and workflow improvement.
- Strong eye for UI/UX, visual quality, usability, content structure, and brand consistency.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, collaborative, and able to ask good questions before building the wrong thing quickly.
- Portfolio or examples of completed websites, applications, integrations, or automation projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing LLM APIs, AI assistants, RAG/search workflows, agent frameworks, automation tools, or AI-enabled internal tools.
- Experience with React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Laravel, or other modern development frameworks/languages.
- Experience configuring advanced WordPress tools such as Advanced Custom Fields, Elementor Pro, Gravity Forms, JetEngine/JetSmart, Dynamic.ooo, WooCommerce, or similar plugins.
- Experience with Shopify Liquid, Shopify theme customization, Shopify apps, product data, cart/checkout logic, and e-commerce integrations.
- Experience connecting third-party APIs, webhooks, forms, databases, spreadsheets, CRMs, ERPs, or internal business systems.
- Understanding of SEO, analytics, conversion tracking, structured data, accessibility, performance optimization, and image/graphics optimization.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, UI design, content production, product photography/video workflows, or digital marketing.
- Comfortable producing clear instructional text, technical documentation, and practical user guides for internal teams.
The Person Who Will Thrive Here
- Enjoys a fast-paced, collaborative environment where priorities can shift and no two days look exactly the same.
- Likes working close to real products, real manufacturing, and real business problems instead of only abstract development tickets.
- Can move between strategy and execution: discussing a workflow in the morning, fixing a website issue after lunch, and prototyping an AI tool before the end of the week.
- Takes ownership, follows through, documents work, and communicates before small issues become big surprises.
- Has curiosity, humility, and the desire to keep getting better as technology, e-commerce, and AI evolve.
Physical Requirements
- Constant operation of a computer and standard office equipment.
- Occasional standing and walking in office, showroom, and manufacturing environments.
- Must be able to occasionally carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Benefits & Culture
- Competitive pay depending on experience.
- Comprehensive health coverage.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- 401(k) plan with company match.
- Free access to our state-of-the-art employee fitness center.
- World-class manufacturing and administrative facility built to support an amazing, fun, and safe team environment.
- Opportunities to learn, contribute, advance, and make a visible impact across multiple growing brands.
- This is an on-site position only.
