Responsibilities Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Expedites delivery of goods to users. Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance within area of authority and reporting potential issues to management. Maintains strict confidentiality in all company matters. Requirements Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Purchasing experience in a hotel/casino/F&B environment strongly preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English. Must have proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues.
