Job Title: Phlebotomist I Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations in a fast‑paced environment. Schedule M-F 8 to 5 Responsibilities Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. Decontaminate work areas and update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. Follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states). Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. 1-2 years of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in troubleshooting and providing workflow recommendations. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Work Environment The work environment is a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting where the employee will use both straight and butterfly needles. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and attendance at annual training sessions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
