SAP Basis & Security Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Contract

Contract Length: 18 months (possible extension or conversion)

Pay Rate: $69/hr - $74/hr

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead SAP Basis and Security Engineer to join a technology team supporting a major financial services client. This role involves designing, configuring, and supporting engineering solutions for operational and building management systems. The position requires consulting on complex software engineering initiatives, analyzing large-scale challenges, and collaborating with client personnel to deliver scalable, long-term solutions within a dynamic, Agile environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, monitor, and upgrade SAP systems and databases, including S/4HANA, NetWeaver, and Solution Manager.
  • Perform Basis administration tasks such as client copies, transport management, and system performance tuning.
  • Manage SAP security by creating and maintaining roles (PFCG), managing user access, and designing authorization profiles.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify Segregation of Duties (SoD) risks.
  • Monitor system logs, SQL traces, and short dumps to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Design and configure S/4 HANA systems, RESTful APIs, and services for secure and scalable integrations.
  • Support the design, build, and implementation for all SAP environments and related application components.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to functional teams, architects, and developers on solution architecture and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of SAP BASIS Administration experience, including at least two full lifecycle S/4 HANA implementations.
  • 5+ years of experience with SAP S/4HANA, Fiori, BTP, MDG, and GRC, covering system architecture and lifecycle management.
  • 5+ years of experience with authorization concepts, user provisioning, system upgrades, and patching.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing security roles within S/4 HANA across various modules.
  • Proficiency in database administration (HANA, Oracle, etc.).
  • 3+ years of hands-on configuration experience with BMS system and data integration solutions (APIs, messaging, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP RISE and cloud-based SAP environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS) and operational technology integrations.
  • Exposure to container platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker.
  • Experience within the financial services industry.
  • A Bachelor's degree.
Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated pay range for this position is $69.00/hr to $74.00/hr. Please note that the final pay rate will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location. This is a contract position.
