Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor - In Training (SAC-IT) to join our dedicated team in Janesville, WI . This role focuses on group therapy for individuals navigating substance use disorder and supporting their recovery journey. You'll work with referrals from Rock County, the Department of Corrections, and self-referrals.

What You'll Do:

• Facilitate curriculumbased psychoeducation groups
• Complete intake, screening, and assessment tools (with supervision as required)
• Provide addiction counseling and basic case management services
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with state, federal, and agency standards
• Coordinate services with internal teams and external partners
• Participate in supervision, training, and staff meetings

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher in human services or related field
• Valid WI credential: SACIT, SAC, or CSAC
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and case management
• Experience with correctional populations preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse populations
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
