JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

CALENDAR: 0105(10.5 MONTH)

SALARY: GRADE 127 ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE

Job Goals: To assist the principal in fulfillingthemajor role of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school. To assist in maintaining an ordered climate that supports meaningful learning experiences for each student in the school. To promote regular school attendance. To assist in the development of self-discipline in each student in the school. To assist in effective community involvement in the activities in the school. To help each student develop an appreciation for cultural and ethnic differences. Core Job Functions: Leadership & Administrative Support Serve as the direct report to the Principal and act on their behalf when necessary. Assist in interpreting and implementing school regulations and district policies for students, parents, and staff. Support personnel management activities, including: Interviewing prospective teacher candidates. Inducting and orienting new staff and faculty. Evaluating certificated personnel. Coordinating in-service education programs. Implementing due process procedures for certificated personnel when required. Student Discipline & Support Manage disciplinary actions referred to the Principal’s office by teachers, staff, or students, and handle special cases as directed. Assist in implementing student due process procedures. Supervise student/parent/teacher conferences as assigned. Monitor and address transportation-related discipline issues. Curriculum & Instruction Support curriculum development, instructional improvement, and assist teachers with specific instructional challenges. Help implement grading policies and oversee homebound education programs. Scheduling & Records Management Develop and maintain the master schedule of classes to meet student needs, statutory requirements, and facility constraints. Coordinate registration and scheduling for all students each semester. Manage schedule changes and verify student status at year-end, notifying parents of irregularities. Maintain accurate student records, including transcripts, attendance, testing data, and transfer information. Supervise periodic reporting of student progress to parents. Attendance & Insurance Oversee the issuance of absence/tardy slips, maintain records, and investigate irregular cases. Report excessive absences or tardiness to the Principal and coordinate solutions with parents. Supervise the student insurance program. Facilities & Operations Assist with facility coordination, including: Classroom scheduling within facility limitations. Scheduling extracurricular and outside use of school grounds. Conducting safety inspections and follow-ups. Overseeing maintenance and custodial activities. Manage rental and contracting for off-campus group use of facilities. Activities & Events Develop and maintain a master schedule of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including athletic events. Coordinate scheduling with clubs, sponsors, other schools, and district offices. Distribute monthly calendars and updated schedules to campus and district offices. Organize student assemblies and supervise student council activities. Develop and distribute the student handbook. Budget & Purchasing Collaborate with department heads to develop and amend budget requests. Facilitate purchasing activities for the school. Additional Responsibilities Coordinate cafeteria, transportation, and other support services with district and community offices. Assist in supervising guidance services. Facilitate and oversee athletic programs. Perform other duties as directed by the Principal. Core Values: Excellence in all we do.
