Compensation

Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) $59,500 $80,950 annually | Midpoint $70,000 CDCES Differential An additional flat $3,000 is available to candidates who hold active certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), applied at the minimum, midpoint, and maximum of the range: $62,500 $83,950 annually | Midpoint $73,000 Placement within the range is based on relevant experience, credentials, and internal equity. Per diem candidates are compensated at an hourly rate derived from the same range. About the Role

The Registered Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy for patients identified as having nutritional risk factors, with particular emphasis on patients living with chronic conditions such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Working alongside an interdisciplinary care team and colleagues across the Population Health department, the RD plays an essential role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to the communities Esperanza serves. Per diem Registered Dietitians will also be considered.

What You'll Do

Individual Nutrition Counseling

• Conduct initial nutrition assessments and follow-up counseling appointments.
• Develop individualized nutrition plans with patients, setting goals that are realistic and attainable, and provide patients with a printed copy of their goals along with supporting resources and tools.
• Exercise sound clinical judgment in recommending treatment in consultation with the primary care provider.
• Apply specialized knowledge in areas such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
• Assess patients' psychological, social, and spiritual needs within the RD scope of practice, and refer to behavioral health, psychiatry, or social services as appropriate.
• Collaborate with the Lifestyle Medicine program and the Community Health and Wellness department, referring patients to classes and programs such as Family Fit as appropriate.
• Document care in the Electronic Health Record and communicate clearly with the patient's primary care provider, care team, and outside health professionals.
• Complete documentation of clinic visits within 24 hours, and respond promptly to urgent care-related calls and messages.

Group Education

• Lead group educational sessions on targeted nutrition topics for patients and partner organizations.
• Use existing lesson plans or develop new curricula and take-home materials.

Community Health and Wellness

• In collaboration with the Community Health and Wellness department, promote nutrition and healthy living at health fairs, community health promoter classes, cooking demonstrations, and other community events, preparing materials as needed.

Quality and Professional Growth

• Identify and help implement practice improvements.
• Maintain licensure, certification, and continuing education requirements.
• Seek supervision and input from the collaborating or substitute physician appropriately, and operate within the training and licensing scope of a registered dietitian.
• Take ownership of and meet personal patient volume targets.

What You'll Bring

Required Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university, including the practice experience or internship required by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) at the time of hire or within six months of hire, with Pennsylvania licensure as a Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) once registration is established. Bilingual in Spanish and English. Clear, direct oral communication skills and the initiative to communicate proactively with colleagues. Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and a high volume of detail with accuracy. A solid record of handling confidential information with trustworthiness and integrity. The ability to remain calm under pressure. Active participation in and accountability to a Bible-teaching church congregation, and a lifestyle consistent with Biblical standards. Preferred Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field. Active certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) eligible for a $3,000 salary differential.
