Credit Recovery and Outreach TeacherTucson Credit Recovery ProgramCareer Success Schools - Tucson, ArizonaPosition SummaryCareer Success Schools (CSS) is seeking a passionate, student-centered Credit Recovery and Outreach Teacher to support students enrolled in the Tucson Credit Recovery Program. This position combines academic instruction, individualized tutoring, assessment and grading, student mentoring, and community outreach.The Credit Recovery and Outreach Teacher works directly with students who need additional academic support or opportunities to recover high school credits and remain on track for graduation. The teacher provides individualized and small-group instruction, assists students with completing course packets and assignments, evaluates and grades student work, monitors academic progress, and maintains accurate educational records.In addition to instructional responsibilities, this position plays an active role in recruiting and retaining credit recovery students. The teacher develops relationships with students, families, schools, community organizations, and local partners to increase awareness of the program, reconnect students with educational opportunities, and help enrolled students overcome barriers to attendance and completion.The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, initiative, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to serving students who may have experienced academic, personal, or social challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Instruction and Academic SupportProvide individualized and small-group tutoring to students in grades 9-12 who are completing credit recovery coursework.Assist students with understanding and completing instructional packets, assignments, projects, assessments, and other required coursework.Explain academic concepts using differentiated instructional strategies that accommodate varied learning styles and academic skill levels.Provide timely, constructive, and supportive feedback to students.Help students develop study skills, time-management strategies, goal-setting practices, and personal accountability.Support students in completing coursework accurately and within established timelines.Identify students who require additional academic interventions and coordinate appropriate support.Encourage student persistence, confidence, and continued progress toward graduation.Grading and Academic DocumentationReview, evaluate, and grade student packets, assignments, projects, and assessments in accordance with established curriculum standards and grading procedures.Ensure that grading is accurate, consistent, timely, and supported by appropriate documentation.Provide students with opportunities to revise or correct work when permitted by program guidelines.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, credits, course completion, and academic progress.Enter grades and student information into applicable student information systems and instructional platforms.Monitor student progress toward course completion, credit attainment, and graduation requirements.Communicate concerns regarding academic progress, attendance, or student engagement to program leadership.Protect the confidentiality of student information and comply with applicable school policies and legal requirements.Student Recruitment and Community OutreachRepresent the Tucson Credit Recovery Program at community events, school functions, enrollment activities, resource fairs, and other outreach opportunities.Develop positive relationships with local schools, community organizations, youth-serving agencies, nonprofit organizations, families, and other community partners.Educate prospective students and families about credit recovery opportunities, program expectations, enrollment requirements, and available student support.Assist with student recruitment initiatives, outreach campaigns, informational meetings, and enrollment events.Conduct appropriate follow-up with prospective students and families who have expressed interest in the program.Help identify students in the community who may benefit from credit recovery services or alternative educational pathways.Distribute program information and outreach materials through approved community channels.Maintain professional and consistent communication with referral partners and community stakeholders.Collaborate with school leadership to develop strategies for increasing program awareness and student enrollment.Student Engagement and RetentionEstablish supportive and professional relationships with students and families.Regularly monitor student attendance, participation, academic progress, and course completion.Contact students and families when attendance, participation, or academic progress becomes a concern.Help students identify and address barriers that may interfere with attendance or successful course completion.Develop individualized strategies to reengage students who are absent, disengaged, or at risk of withdrawing.Conduct student check-ins and progress conferences to establish goals and reinforce expectations.Celebrate student progress, credit attainment, course completion, and graduation milestones.Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to improve student retention and completion rates.Connect students and families with available school or community resources when appropriate.Promote a welcoming, respectful, and encouraging learning environment.Performance ResponsibilitiesInstructional ResponsibilitiesDeliver instruction aligned with approved course curriculum, Arizona academic standards, and program expectations.Adapt instructional methods and materials based on individual student needs.Provide academic interventions for students who are not demonstrating adequate progress.Use student achievement data, completed coursework, assessments, and observations to guide instruction.Maintain appropriate classroom management and student supervision.Incorporate technology into instruction and student support when appropriate.Ensure that students complete all required components before receiving course credit.Participate in curriculum review and program improvement activities as assigned.Outreach and Enrollment SupportParticipate in scheduled recruitment, enrollment, and community engagement activities.Assist prospective students and families in understanding the enrollment process.Follow up with students who begin but do not complete the enrollment process.Maintain outreach and recruitment records as required.Collaborate with staff to support enrollment goals and program growth.Provide program information in a professional, accurate, and student-friendly manner.Maintain relationships with community partners that can provide student referrals or supportive services.Collaboration and CommunicationCommunicate regularly with students, parents, guardians, staff, and community partners.Work collaboratively with school administrators, counselors, teachers, registrars, and support staff.Participate in staff meetings, professional development, student support meetings, and program planning activities.Provide leadership with regular updates regarding student progress, outreach efforts, enrollment activity, and retention concerns.Maintain professional communication and appropriate boundaries with students and families.Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and student-focused school culture.Compliance and Program OperationsFollow all Career Success Schools policies, procedures, curriculum requirements, and professional expectations.Comply with applicable federal and state education requirements.Maintain accurate student records and required program documentation.Follow established procedures for grading, awarding credits, attendance reporting, and course completion.Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and other applicable requirements.Report student safety, welfare, or compliance concerns through appropriate channels.Assist with program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal, program administrator, or superintendent.Minimum QualificationsBachelor 's degree from an accredited college or university.Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate appropriate for the position.Valid Arizona Structured English Immersion endorsement or other endorsement required by the Arizona Department of Education.Valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints Fingerprint Clearance Card.Experience providing instruction, tutoring, intervention, or academic support to high school students.Experience working with at-risk, credit-deficient, disengaged, or nontraditional student populations.Ability to assess, grade, and document student work accurately and consistently.Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Ability to participate in community outreach activities, including occasional evening or weekend events.Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the Tucson community as required.Preferred QualificationsThree or more years of successful secondary teaching experience.Experience teaching or supporting credit recovery, alternative education, dropout prevention, or reengagement programs.Experience tutoring students across multiple high school subject areas.Experience reviewing and grading packet-based or independent-study coursework.Experience with student recruitment, enrollment, retention, or community outreach.Experience working with community organizations and youth-serving agencies.Knowledge of Arizona high school graduation requirements.Experience using student information systems and online learning platforms.Bilingual abilities, particularly English and Spanish.Experience working with diverse student and family populations.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of effective instructional practices for high school students.Knowledge of credit recovery, alternative education, and dropout prevention strategies.Understanding of the academic, social, and personal barriers that may affect student achievement.Ability helping students earn credits and graduate from high school.Work Environment and ScheduleThis position works primarily within the Tucson Credit Recovery Program but may also perform duties at community events, partner locations, enrollment activities, and other approved outreach sites. The position may require occasional evening or weekend hours to support student recruitment, family engagement, retention, and community events.Physical RequirementsThe employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
