Registered Nurse Step Down Unit

This position involves providing care for patients in a step-down unit. The unit primarily provides medical and post-surgical care for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patient populations. Responsibilities include managing various medical devices and treatments. Nurses will be expected to handle cardiac telemetry, central line care, and hemodialysis management. Teamwork and interdisciplinary support are essential in this role. The nurse will work with various healthcare professionals, including physical therapy and pharmacy staff. Applicants should possess strong clinical skills and the ability to manage high patient loads. Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred. Candidates must adhere to safety protocols and provide high-quality patient care. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to cover shifts as needed is important. The unit typically has a daily census of 43 patients, with a focus on adult and geriatric populations. Nurses will play a vital role in the recovery and rehabilitation of patients following surgical procedures. This position requires effective communication and the ability to work under pressure. The role includes potential involvement in patient education and discharge planning. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement. A full understanding of the responsibilities associated with working in a step-down unit is vital for success.
