About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience, 2 years of critical care/tele experience License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience in Neuro ICU, Neurosurgery/Stroke experience, Experience with EVD, Lumber Drains, Irraflow EVD RAUMEDIC Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their significant others. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. Applies the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care team. Manages assignments within the care delivery model and demonstrates effective allocation of material resources. Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through effective patient interactions. Considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. Uses evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns and escalates to management as needed. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients addressing key aspects of care. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care by identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice activities. Implements principles to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors to maintain a safe environment for patients. Documents nursing practice accurately and thoroughly in compliance with care standards. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues, patients, and families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert. Projects a professional image to colleagues and communicates with respect and empathy. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families. Participates in shared decision-making through nursing department committees and unit initiatives.
