GENERAL HOURS OF WORK 12-hour rotating shifts (with weekend/holiday involvement) EXEMPT / ONEXEMPT Non-Exempt (hourly) DEPARTMENT/UNIT Emergency - Clinical REPORTS TO EMS Operations Manager SUMMARY Avel eCare is seeking dedicated Paramedics to join our growing team and provide exceptional patient care. The Avel eCare Emergency Services Line requires all paramedics to practice at a competent level of paramedic care and demonstrate a competent and professional level of behavior in their role as a paramedic. The South Dakota Department of Health ALS scope and standards of practice are exemplified within the position description. The paramedic is responsible for utilizing the paramedic process to provide care for the patient and assumes responsibility and accountability for their individual actions and outcomes of patient care delivered on their shift. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Primary clinician for EMS encounters. Serves in crisis role for hospital emergency encounters. Collects patient health data. Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses/problem focus. Identifies expected outcomes/goals individualized to the patient. Develops a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes. Implements the interventions identified in the plan of care. Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of the outcomes. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Evaluates own paramedic practice in relation to professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations. Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice. Contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues and others. Ensures decisions and actions on behalf of clients are consistent with the NREMT Code of Conduct. Collaborates with the patient, significant others and health care providers in providing patient care. Utilizes research/evidence-based findings in practice, if appropriate. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering patient care. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Has sufficient knowledge and skills to integrate the use of health care technology and/or information management systems into the provision of nursing care. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS The individual must be able to work the hours specified above and perform each essential function satisfactorily. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate from an accredited paramedic program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved paramedic program is required. 3-5 years EMS experience required. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE AND/OR REGISTRATIONS Licensed as a paramedic with an unrestricted license in a compact member state is required. Paramedic licensure within the states that Emergency - Clinical is providing service is required within 120 days of hire. Certification in specialty is preferred. Membership in a professional organization is preferred. Completion of state-specific certification/education within the initial and renewal time periods is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
