Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring TX or compact RN licensure and 2+ years of L&D experience including circulating and transitioning newborns.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting with 200-300 births per month
• Rotates through triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition duties (no post-partum)
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Handles high risk antepartum, high risk delivery, and C-section circulation

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including circulating and newborn transition
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood/blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV pump management
• Experience with EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) required
• Experience with IUPC placement and calibration preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive obstetrical care including antepartum, labor, delivery, circulating, and newborn transition
• Assist with high risk and vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions, and C-section recovery
• Administer medications including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and terbutaline
• Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation support
• Support pain management including epidural and general anesthesia monitoring
• RTO must be submitted with consideration and some holiday coverage is expected
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• On-site drug screening conducted upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with immediate cancellation for positive results
• First-time travelers considered as long as experience requirements are met
