Compensation Amount: 15.00 USD Hourly. Job Summary: The Cook assists the Chef or General Manager by preparing, cooking, and serving food. Responsibilities Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, daily menus, and supervisor instructions. Clean and inspect kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation. Operate food station, including performing station checklist, temperature log, counter meeting, and signage. Requisition food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances based on estimates of future need. Monitor menus and spending to ensure meals are prepared economically. Maintain awareness of safety issues and report immediately to management. Qualifications Partial high school education required; High School Diploma/G.E.D. preferred. Knowledge of culinary practices. Food Safety certified with strong sanitation habits. Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers. Ability to recognize problems and communicate to management. Physical and Mental Requirements Move about on foot to accomplish tasks, frequently moving from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently; move in a constantly changing environment. Lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30‑35 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Stand for entire workday; climb steps regularly; withstand temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator, walk‑in and grill areas. Read and write work‑related documents in English, and communicate verbally in English. Constantly communicate and receive verbal communication with other employees in fast‑paced kitchen. Physical presence at job site is essential to perform job duties. Equipment Used Standard commercial cooking machinery and utensils.
