This position offers a unique opportunity for providers who prefer a consistent nighttime schedule while practicing at the top of their license in a highly autonomous and collaborative environment. The APP team plays a central role in managing orthopedic patients across trauma, total joint, and surgical subspecialties, with strong support from orthopedic surgeons and resident physicians. This role is ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance through a condensed workweek, with the ability to work three consecutive night shifts and enjoy extended time off. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive overnight inpatient orthopedic care, including post-operative management and acute patient needs Respond to and manage overnight orthopedic consults from the Emergency Department (adult and limited pediatric population) Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, residents, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care Manage perioperative patients overnight, addressing clinical changes and coordinating care plansLi> Maintain clear and effective handoff communication with day team providers Support a team-based care model with shared accountability and collaboration Participate in maintaining high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced inpatient setting Schedule Full-time night shift position 3 consecutive 13-hour shifts per week (e.g., Monday–Friday) Occasional night shift Consistent weekly schedule offering 4 days off each week Night shift serve as in-house coverage. Requirements Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program NCCPA certification required Maryland State License (or eligibility) required DEA/CDS (or ability to obtain) New graduates are welcome to apply; prior orthopedic or surgical experience is preferred but not required Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is 420 bed teaching hospital, trauma center, neonatal intensive care unit, geriatrics center, and is home to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center, the only adult burn trauma in Maryland. Salary Range Minimum 58.03/hour - Maximum 89.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
