This is based solely on experience. Pay will be one of the following:Mechanic 1: $27.20Mechanic 2: $30.72About:This is a skilled labor position working to install, repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions, according to established operating procedures. The employee must perform the following duties while cooperating with all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance and Protection:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirementsWears all personal protective equipment as required, including but not limited to protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respiratorMust know, understand, and perform all plant and departmental safety regulations and procedures and immediately reports any hazardous conditionsPerforms safety observations and complete training assignmentsMust know and understand company policies, regulations, and procedures regarding employee conduct and attendanceExcellent attendance, attitude and motivation must be demonstrated to advance to the next levelExpected to perform duties with direct guidance as neededAssist other maintenance personnel as neededTroubleshooting by use of testing equipment and other measuring techniquesManage down time by coordinating with production department personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance techniquesDismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand and power toolsMake adjustments to functional parts of equipment and control systemsFabricate repair parts using shop equipment (welding equipment, cutting equipment, machine tools)Maintain and test Boiler, CO 2 House, Air Compressors, and plant critical systemsLayout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, and cooling for process systemsReplace Indurator O-Rings and mold car bearingsReplace and/or adjust oven door cablesRepair and/or replace limit switchesResponsible for operating in conformance with the ISO certifications held by the Ruston facilityFamiliarity with Preventative and Predictive MaintenanceResponsible for execution of MRO work orders which includes entering into SAPAbility to effectively communicate mechanical issues when troubleshooting equipment/issues for internal customersRequired to respond to call ins and work the call in requestMust have own toolsPerforms other duties as directedEducation and/or Experience and SkillsAssociate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school (preferred) or one - year certificate from college or technical school; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanic job has no supervisory responsibilities.Preferred Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCertifications accepted in lieu of experienceCertificates include but not limited to:Mechanic license or equivalent work experienceWelding certificate or equivalent work experienceLathe certificate or equivalent work experienceForklift, Diesel Mechanic certificates or equivalent work experienceMachinist certificate or equivalent work experiencePhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. The manufacturing process involves toxic or caustic chemicals.
