Previous experience as a Medical Assistant is required; willingness to learn on the job is acceptable. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm. Collect specimens for laboratory analysis. Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients. Assist the physician with office visits and be available in emergencies. Manage patient prescriptions and referrals as directed by the physician. Answer patient questions and notify patients of test results. Review procedure reports to ensure patients have hospital orders and needed clearances. Escort patients to exam rooms and throughout the office as needed. Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines. Prepare examination rooms, clean, and restock supplies. Assist with dressing and undressing of patients if required. Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications with dosage verification. Perform phlebotomy for lab work and complete required forms. Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, lab tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions, and appointments. The Must Haves High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience as a Medical Assistant required. Experience working in a medical office environment preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
