The Company consists of three business segments: Human Nutrition and Health, Animal Nutrition and Health, and Specialty Products.POSITION SUMMARY:Process Engineer provides technical expertise for the design standards, process capabilities, scale-ups, hazard analysis, performance monitoring, technical training and continuous improvements for a site or group of locations within the HNH business. This position will plan, support, and where applicable, execute engineering deliverables for the sites production and packaging functions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides technical leadership to enable new product or process development by collaborating with research and development, corporate engineering and/ or technical groups from other locations to develop engineering packages to deliver the capabilities required.Provides technical expertise to generate and track value by implementing improvements to existing processes and to provide guidance for process safety evaluations.Designs experiments with internal and external resources to reduce variation, validate process change, or evaluate a projects cost/ benefitDevelops project scopes, justification, P&IDs, drawings, and controls narratives to plan, support, and execute process improvements.Authors and reviews documents including Preventive Maintenance plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Material Masters, and other forms.Leads and provide direction for other operational and engineering resources assigned to projects and processes, including coaching, mentoring and knowledge development.Keeps abreast of emerging manufacturing technology trends and developments and incorporate into design requirements.Works with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues/problems.Responsible for technical support and improvement in the areas of material handling, ingredients preparation, receiving, CIP, and liquid & powder processing.Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED:Bachelors degree in chemical, mechanical or biosystems engineering or equivalent experience.Relevant experience, minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environmentStrong safety orientationProficient computer skills (Word, Excel, ERP)Specific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM systemsClear sense of urgency and ability to manage priorities to meet immediate needs and long-term goalsAbility to manage time and workload efficiently, and the ability to prioritize and modify priorities accordinglySelf-motivation and ability to work independentlyDemonstrated ability to work and develop others in a team environmentSensitive to other cultures/backgrounds, able to work in a multi-cultural workplaceDemonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced environment while moving multiple simultaneous projects forwardStrong verbal and written communication skills to discuss, develop, and implement planHigh sensitivity to quality and on time delivery of commitmentsAbility to develop othersPREFERRED:Food or pharmaceutical packagingWorking understanding of PLCsKnowledge of Computer- Aided Design SoftwareKnowledge of OSIsoft PI SystemPast understanding of food GMPs and hygienic designSpecific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM systemsWillingness to travel up to 25% of the timeWORKING CONDITIONS:While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hearOften required to spend time in plant environments with operating and maintenance personnel requiring one to kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, ascend and descend stairs and/or laddersVision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus#IND123Department: Maintenance Defiance Location: Defiance, OH
