Independent Living services specialist

Position overview We are seeking a reliable, patient, and attentive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide support for an individual with Mild Intellectual Disability. Services will focus on increasing independence in daily living skills, safety protocols, community integration, and exercise while ensuring safety and accessibility. The ideal candidate is adaptable, observant, and comfortable supporting an individual with showering (bathing) and personal needs. Primary Goals of Support Safety protocols Support safe and confident community navigation Exercise Key Responsibilities Personal Hygiene & Daily Living Skills Community Navigation Assistance Provide guidance and support that remains relevant and effective, fostering a dynamic approach to care that responds to evolving needs over time. Encourage independence while offering assistance as needed Help establish consistent daily routines Related Challenges The individual’s may present unique challenges that staff must be prepared to address, including: Navigation & Safety Additional guidance may be required to safely navigate environments Staff may need to provide orientation support, environment assistance. Communication & Accessibility Tasks involving: Monitoring of the individual's progress and allows for adjustments to the care plan as circumstances change. Adapted Training Needs Tasks involving: client focus on identifying and utilizing strategies, tools, and supports that increase accessibility and promote independence. Ideal Candidate Qualities Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilitiespreferred Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills Patient, dependable, and adaptable Comfortable providing hands-on support while promoting independence Able to work independently. Work Environment One-on-one support in home and community settings Clients schedule Structured, supportive, and safety-focused role Job Requirements Required Qualifications & Compliance Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, and Cerebral Palsy preferred.
