Maintenance Technician / Equipment Technician

The Maintenance Technician (Equipment Technician) plays a key role in ensuring reliable operation of production equipment on the factory floor. This position focuses on preventive maintenance, rapid response to equipment downtime, and thorough troubleshooting to identify root causes and reduce repeat failures. You work closely with operators and engineers, follow detailed procedures, and maintain accurate documentation while supporting a safe, climate-controlled, and partially cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment by following detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to proper operating condition.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures with an emphasis on identifying root causes to minimize repeat issues.
• Complete all required maintenance and repair documentation accurately and with strong attention to detail.
• Communicate clearly and effectively during shift handoffs, providing status updates and details of work performed.
• Follow all health, safety, environmental, and security procedures and requirements at all times.
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs.
• Work with equipment operators, equipment engineers, and process engineers to perform troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance.
• Train new team members as needed and support knowledge transfer within the team.
• Maintain regular and prompt attendance and support production needs on a consistent basis.
• Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, IR/temp guns, and other common troubleshooting equipment.
• Perform electrical repair work on low and high voltage systems and carry out mechanical repairs on industrial equipment.
• Handle multiple maintenance and repair tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities based on production needs.
• Operate computers and system interface programs to analyze production information and support equipment performance monitoring.
• Create reports and collaborate with Equipment Engineers to document procedure changes and equipment-related updates.
• Apply working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and systems to monitor and improve equipment performance.
• Adhere to cleanroom protocols, including proper use of protective clothing and equipment, when working in controlled environments.

Essential Skills

• Strong electrical and mechanical skills for troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
• Knowledge in the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, IR/temp guns, and other common troubleshooting equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, including low and high voltage, and mechanical repair techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures to complete tasks and documentation accurately and on time.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain high attention to detail and timeliness in a production environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize work.
• Capability to work independently with a low level of supervision while meeting performance expectations.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, to communicate effectively with team members and document work.
• Ability to perform shift work on a 12-hour schedule (day or night) in a cleanroom and factory environment.
• Ability to wear required cleanroom protective clothing and equipment throughout a 12-hour shift, excluding breaks.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds periodically during the shift as required to perform job functions.
• Ability to work in a standing position for the majority of a 12-hour shift, excluding breaks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2-year technical or associate degree or equivalent training and experience in a related field (preferred).
• Knowledge of semiconductor processing and process equipment (preferred).
• Experience as a maintenance technician in industrial or manufacturing settings.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting and industrial electrical systems, including 3-phase power and motors.
• Familiarity with pneumatics and preventive maintenance practices for industrial equipment.
• Ability to operate computers and system interface programs to analyze and manage production information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with SAP and MES systems, including the ability to create reports and document procedure changes.
• Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and systems.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that includes partially cleanroom areas. You work primarily on the factory floor around industrial and semiconductor process equipment, following strict safety and cleanroom protocols. The role requires 12-hour shifts (day or night), with most of the shift spent standing and performing hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting tasks. Cleanroom protective clothing and equipment must be worn throughout the shift, excluding breaks. The environment uses a range of diagnostic and electronic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, IR/temp guns, and computer-based systems including SAP, MES, and Microsoft Office. The setting emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and operational reliability while maintaining a comfortable and professional atmosphere.

This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Peters, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
