Store Manager — Next Gen Vintage Collective About us Next Gen Vintage Collective is Chicago's designer vintage collective, opening fall 2026. We’re not a shop — we’re a curated home for the city’s best independent vintage resellers, each bringing their own eye, their own sourcing, and their own inventory under one roof. We handle the space, the systems, and the community; our resellers handle what they do best. The role We’re looking for a Store Manager to run day‑to‑day operations for our flagship Chicago location. This isn’t a typical retail management job — you won’t be managing inventory you bought, you’ll be the person who makes it possible for 10‑15 independent resellers to thrive under one roof. You’ll be the connective tissue between our resellers, our customers, and the founders. What you’ll do Oversee daily store operations, including opening/closing procedures, staffing, and point‑of‑sale systems across multiple resellers’ inventory Serve as the primary point of contact for our reseller community — coordinating restocking schedules, merchandising standards, and day‑to‑day questions Maintain a cohesive, elevated in‑store experience even though inventory comes from many different sourcing partners — this means enforcing visual merchandising standards without flattening what makes each reseller’s point of view distinct Manage customer experience on the floor, including styling assistance, returns/exchanges policy, and building repeat clientele Track sales performance by reseller and flag trends, restocking needs, or issues to the founders Help onboard new resellers as the collective grows, walking them through space setup, systems, and expectations Support marketing and content efforts by keeping the space photo‑ and video‑ready for social content What we’re looking for 2+ years of retail management experience, ideally in fashion, vintage, or a multi‑vendor/consignment environment Comfort managing relationships with independent stakeholders, not just employees — this role requires diplomacy as much as operations skill A genuine eye for designer fashion and vintage; you don’t need to be an expert appraiser, but you should care about the pieces passing through the space Strong organizational skills — you’re the person keeping 10+ moving parts running smoothly at once A collaborative, low‑ego approach; you’re building something with founders who are hands‑on and involved POS and retail systems experience (Shopify or similar preferred) You’d be joining at the ground floor of something new in Chicago retail — not managing someone else’s established playbook, but helping write it.
