Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval – award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Basic Requirements: United States citizenship (Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy) Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of completion Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or Commonwealth, or in the District of Columbia Residency training: Physicians must have completed an accredited core specialty program eligible for board certification (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies include: Those approved by ACGME or AOA in the year the residency or fellowship was completed One year of post‑medical‑school training (internship, first year of residency, or transitional year residency) approved by ACGME or AOA followed by two years of independent practice under a full and unrestricted license in the United States Non‑U.S. residency training followed by a minimum of three years of verified independent practice in the U.S. (performing duties related to the position) – U.S. fellowships would be creditable toward this requirement Exceptions: Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs) PRPs must be fully licensed physicians, may only be appointed on an intermittent basis, are not considered independent practitioners, will not be privileged, and will have a scope of practice that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs In rare and unusual circumstances, the Facility Director can submit a memo to the VISN Director through the VISN Chief Medical Officer to request reasonable exceptions to the residency training requirement for physicians whose composite record warrants such action Proficiency in spoken and written English Preferred experience: Two years of primary care provider experience Reference: For more information on this qualification standard – Physical requirements: Evaluation of physical, cognitive, and emotional fitness prior to appointment; designated drug testing position; random testing for illegal drug use after appointment; candidates must interact with patients and health care personnel in a caring and professional manner; must tolerate physically taxing workloads and function effectively under stress Duties VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package VHA Physician Total Rewards The PACT Physician (MD/DO) position is responsible for direct supervision of outpatient care at the assigned location PACT Physicians will meet six core competencies for professional performance and conduct: Patient Care Medical Knowledge (evidence‑based medicine) Practice‑Based Learning and Improvement Interpersonal and Communication Skills Systems‑Based Practice Professionalism: Practice the principles of the MTVA’s Civility in the Workplace policy Additional duties include but are not limited to: Functions as the Physician Team leader of their Patient‑Aligned Care Team (PACT); Primary Care Services; Community‑Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) setting at MTVAHCS May perform additional duties (temporary or permanent) as a float provider (Face‑to‑Face, Telephone, or VA Video Connect) as those duties are assigned Responsible for providing medical care in an outpatient setting following PACT principles; routinely provide care using Face‑to‑Face, VVC, and/or Telephone appointments When performing duties as a float provider for remote patients – will provide care to outreach clinics as needed; may require travel to the supported CBOC(s) periodically to cover a provider vacancy Assures that Veterans receive compassionate, efficient, and safe patient care in their respective care lines Ensuring that PACT has same‑day access for Face‑to‑Face, Telephone, or VVC care visits during regular clinic hours Collaborating with PACT staff to develop personal health plans that incorporate care management and coordination appropriate to the Veteran’s needs Ongoing continuous care of one or more assigned panels of Veterans, including gap provider responsibilities as assigned Utilizing all available tools—such as registries, HEDIS measures, and survey information—to enable effective and efficient identification and intervention of individual patients and cohorts Participates in multi‑disciplinary team meetings to achieve a patient‑centered holistic approach for clinical care and needs of the Veteran; includes daily and weekly huddles with the Physician’s PACT Leads by example; attends either by Microsoft Teams or in person all Primary Care statewide meetings and participates, when possible, in clinical and teaching activities at MTVAHCS Primary Care statewide meetings Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Approved – Learn more Pay: Competitive salary; annual performance bonus; regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50‑55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave – 13 days of sick leave – 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5‑day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long‑term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm #J-18808-Ljbffr
