Job Description
The Test Technician III performs advanced debug, test, and maintenance activities on complex electronic assemblies, working to component level using schematics and block diagrams. This fully qualified, journey-level role supports production by resolving a wide range of technical issues, training test operators, and collaborating closely with engineering and leadership to drive continuous improvement. The position follows a 4/10 first-shift schedule and operates within a clean, fast-paced manufacturing environment that supports high-reliability applications across aerospace, defense, telecommunications, medical, and other advanced industries.
Responsibilities
- Debug and test electronic assemblies down to the component level using block diagrams, schematics, and test documentation.
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance, calibration, and upkeep on test equipment and testers to ensure reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operator issues on the production floor, partnering with leadership to address training needs and process improvements.
- Provide hands-on training, guidance, and ongoing technical support to Test Operators to improve quality, accuracy, and throughput.
- Communicate test problems, failure trends, and recurring issues clearly to Test Engineers and leadership for resolution.
- Assist with experiments, failure analysis, and root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex product and process issues.
- Recommend additional equipment, tools, and resources for product debug areas to improve efficiency and capability.
- Actively participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and reduce waste.
- Comply with and follow all company security policies, procedures, and documentation requirements at all times.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production, engineering, and quality objectives.
- Analyze data and test results on problems of diverse scope, evaluating identifiable factors to determine effective solutions.
- Exercise sound judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and tools to obtain accurate and timely test and debug outcomes.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
- Work with minimal day-to-day instruction, handling general guidance on new assignments while independently managing workload.
- Provide leadership-level support on the most complex products and issues, demonstrating seasoned professional expertise.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in electronics or test-related roles, including at least 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
- At least 5+ years of hands-on electronics experience, including debug and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies.
- Proficiency in debugging complex electronic assemblies and circuits to the component level.
- Strong computer skills to operate test systems, productivity tools, and documentation platforms.
- Demonstrated lead or leadership experience supporting teams or operators in a production or test environment.
- Experience with ERP systems and test-related tools such as ATP (Acceptance Test Plan) or MAC address-related processes.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, drawings, block diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools for assembly, disassembly, and rework of electronic and mechanical components.
- Hands-on experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment for debug and verification.
- Proficiency in electronic and mechanical assembly, including wiring, component assembly, PCB work, and soldering.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electronics, including test equipment setup and fault isolation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization and with customers when required.
- Strong multitasking ability, with a proven capacity to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Effective organization and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and maintain professional, respectful interactions.
- Demonstrated discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism in handling sensitive information and projects.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance while exercising independent judgment in day-to-day tasks.
- Understanding of and ability to apply continuous improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Strong customer service and client focus in supporting internal and external requirements.
- Working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products and WebEx conferencing software.
- Basic understanding of test measurement principles and debug techniques for electronic systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Two-year Engineering or Technical degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management.
- Experience supporting high-reliability or complex products in industries such as aerospace, defense, telecommunications, medical, or advanced computing.
- Familiarity with acceptance test plans (ATP) and related documentation and reporting.
- Experience working within structured manufacturing or production environments with defined processes and quality standards.
- Comfort working on the most complex products and issues, applying creative and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to contribute to experiments and structured failure analysis processes to drive root cause identification.
- Experience in environments that require strict adherence to security, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
- Capability to mentor and coach less experienced technicians and operators to elevate overall team performance.

Work Environment
The role follows a 4/10 first-shift schedule, typically working Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the need to remain open to occasional work on Fridays as business requires. Work takes place primarily in a clean, fast-paced manufacturing facility that is certified to rigorous industry standards such as AS9100 and other relevant quality frameworks. The position involves mainly sitting, with the flexibility to stand as needed, while performing detailed electronic test and debug work. You regularly use electronic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, as well as hand tools and power tools for assembly and disassembly tasks. The environment supports a 24/7 global business operation, and work centers on advanced, often sensitive projects for sectors including aerospace, defense, and other high-reliability industries, requiring strict adherence to security procedures and compliance standards. Attire is appropriate for a professional, electronics manufacturing and test setting, suitable for working around production equipment and sensitive electronic components.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
