Assistant Pre-K Teacher

River Road Early Learning Center is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Assistant Pre‑K Teacher to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This full‑time position offers competitive pay at $17–$19 per hour and a supportive, collaborative environment that values professional growth and a positive workplace culture. Position Overview As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside our Lead Teacher to create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that prepares children for kindergarten success. You will support daily classroom activities, maintain a safe and organized environment, and build positive relationships with children and families. Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities. Support children's cognitive, language, social‑emotional, and physical development. Foster a warm, nurturing classroom where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest time. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and daily routines. Encourage positive behavior through consistent guidance and encouragement. Support early literacy, math, science, art, music, and hands‑on learning experiences. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Observe children and share developmental observations with the Lead Teacher. Build positive relationships with families through daily communication. Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support student success. Follow all Virginia licensing regulations and River Road Early Learning Center policies. Qualifications Experience working with preschool‑aged children preferred. CDA, associate’s degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Positive, dependable, and professional attitude. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
