Mammography TechnologistUnder general supervision of Manager of Breast Imaging, the Mammography technologist provides Mammographic technical skills to the Department mission. Duties are to work as technologist and duties in other areas and/or modalities as necessary. The Mammography technologist performs mammography exams for use of diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury to patients of all ages.Responsibilities include:All other Radiology/Mammography exams either added as new or currently in place can be performed as requiredEnsuring the following parameters and issues are maintained and/or performed at all times by all staffRadiology/mammography safety for personnel and patientsThorough understanding of anatomy and physiologyProtocols kept current and state-of-the-art. Works through radiologist and staff to develop and improve protocolsCommunicating procedures, concerns and delay to patients at all timesMaximizing patient flow through both Radiology/Mammography schedule and new program initiativesUtilizing schedule logs to keep patients informed of procedures and delaysEntering all pertinent Radiology/Mammography patient information into InformationSystem as requiredMaximizing codes and reimbursement issues within Radiology/mammography via code updates, changes and knowledge baseUnderstanding and implementing all updated managed care criteria for reimbursement and billing protocolsCommunicating with service vendors regarding service and equipment related issuesEnsuring call ins are timely, efficient, qualitative and completeUpdating and developing as necessary, the most appropriate radiology/mammography protocols to maintain department requirements for clinical and research purposeRequires knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and mammography and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment to include mammographyGenerally acquired through the completion of two years post-high school training in an approved, school of Radiologic technology. MSRT/ARRT (M) requiredThe Mammographer requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and all/any apprehensions, to instruct students and to provide technical supervision to staff technologistsCompensation Range:$51.32- $76.26This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
