As part of the Adult Stroke unit at Methodist, you are a key contributor in advancing and providing the most specialized stroke care in Indiana and will be NIHSS certified during orientation. IU Methodist's Adult Medical/Stroke Unit is an 18‑bed unit designated for the medical/stroke population. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Highly specialized assessment skills Critical thinking Effective communication with other care providers Time management Prioritization of care Strong foundation of neurological care The opportunity to obtain your SCRN (Stroke Certified Registered Nurse) Certification Unit Culture Highlights: Home to Indiana’s first hospital to achieve Comprehensive Stroke Center certification This unit is proud of the culture of teamwork and positivity they have created while caring for a vulnerable patient population Opportunity to work with Indiana’s premier Neuroscience Center Qualifications Requires an Associate of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates not graduating from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Why Join IU Health?
