This role focuses on interior finish carpentry for residential or commercial construction projects across the metro area. You will start with hands-on training to learn how to accurately measure, cut, trim, and install finish components, and then progress to independently completing trim work, door frames, railings, and cabinets. You will typically work on one unit for several days at a time before moving on to the next project, contributing to high-quality, detail-oriented finish work as part of an experienced trim crew.

Responsibilities

• Participate in initial hands-on training to learn proper cutting, trimming, and installation techniques for finish carpentry.
• Install interior trim, including baseboards, casing, and other finish components according to specifications and quality standards.
• Install and finish door frames, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and operation.
• Assist with the installation of railings, ensuring structural integrity and a clean, finished appearance.
• Support cabinet installation and related finish details as directed by the crew lead.
• Work on one unit for several consecutive days, completing assigned finish tasks before moving to the next unit.
• Handle construction materials safely, including routinely lifting and carrying items up to 75 pounds.
• Move materials and tools from vehicles into units and between work areas as needed.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete carpentry tasks.
• Work on hands and knees and in other physically demanding positions for extended periods in a construction environment.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear.
• Collaborate with a crew of approximately five people, communicating clearly to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area within each unit throughout the project.

• At least 6 months of general labor or construction experience.
• At least 6 months of experience working in a physically demanding environment, including time spent on hands and knees.
• Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 75 pounds throughout the workday.
• Basic familiarity with construction practices and jobsite safety.
• Ability to use or learn to use common carpentry hand tools and power tools.
• Capacity to follow instructions and apply training to complete trim and finish work accurately.
• High school diploma.

• Previous experience in carpentry, trim work, or finish carpentry is beneficial.
• Experience working as part of a construction crew on active job sites.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, precise finish work.
• Ability to adapt to different job sites and work on multiple units over time.
• Reliable transportation to reach various metro-area job sites after initial training.

You will join an established trim department that is actively growing and offers the opportunity to work alongside industry-leading craftspeople. The work provides steady, full-time hours on first shift and the chance to build and refine valuable finish carpentry skills through structured, on-the-job training. You will work in a team-based environment where crews collaborate closely, support each other, and take pride in delivering high-quality results on every unit.

Work Environment

This position is based in a construction environment, primarily working inside individual units for several days at a time before moving to the next project. The role includes a one-day training session in Montrose, MN, typically scheduled on a Monday or Wednesday. After training, you will work on crews located throughout the metro area, with a current focus on candidates from the southwest metro. Standard hours follow a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though exact times may vary depending on the job. You will work in crews of about five people within a construction culture that emphasizes productivity, safety, and teamwork. The job requires frequent movement of materials from vehicles into units and extended periods spent on hands and knees or in other physically demanding positions. Steel-toe footwear is required, and you will regularly use construction tools and equipment appropriate for trim and finish carpentry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Montrose, MN.

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
