Technical Editor-Writer

Description: 

ENG- Research, develop, write, edit, and convert technical manuals supporting F-16 aircraft maintenance and operations while ensuring compliance with contractual, military, style, formatting, and publication specifications. Review technical content for accuracy and clarity, support publication updates, manage documentation schedules, and utilize content management and publishing tools to deliver electronic and printed publications.

#Education & Job Requirements

*High School Diploma or GED equivalent
*4+ years of experience with aircraft systems
*2+ years of experience with either Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML)
*2+ years of experience with technical writing
*Experience or knowledge of multiple aircraft systems, including Hydraulic, Lighting, Air Conditioning, Fire Protection, Oxygen, Emergency Power, Crew Escape and Safety, Canopy Jettison, Ejection Seat, Ice Protection, Pneumatic Supply, Towing and Taxiing, Structures, Corrosion Control, Nondestructive Inspections, Propulsion, Avionics, and Weapons
*Experience with Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) tagging
*Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML) tagging
*Prior technical writing experience
*Must be a U.S. Citizen
*Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
*Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

#Preferred Skills

*Prior military aircraft maintenance experience
*Experience with military aircraft platforms using XML, S1000D, and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) in a composite environment
*Familiarity with Epic Editor, Isodraw, Arbor Text Tool Suite, XML, S1000D, or similar applications

#Job Duties & Functions

*Research technical information for F-16 aircraft maintenance and operations manuals.
*Write and edit technical content in compliance with contractual and military specifications.
*Apply applicable style guides, formatting standards, and publication specifications to maintain consistency across deliverables.
*Review and validate technical content for clarity, accuracy, and compliance before publication release.
*Support publication updates resulting from customer feedback, operational findings, and aircraft configuration changes.
*Maintain documentation schedules and ensure timely delivery of assigned technical publications.
*Utilize content management systems and publishing tools to prepare and deliver electronic and printed publications.
*Convert legacy SGML technical manuals into S1000D XML format.
*Ensure documentation meets quality assurance requirements and passes internal and external audits.
