They need a credible mentor whose personal track record defines excellence: someone capable of commanding the room, establishing high-performance norms, and guiding students through doubt, distraction, and hesitation. What You Will Be Doing Conduct 1-on-1 and small‑group coaching using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify barriers, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability for execution. Facilitate structured life‑skills workshops designed for mastery by drawing on credible examples from your own high‑achievement background, then evaluate mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework. Establish the cultural standard each morning via focused kickoff sessions that reinforce high‑performance expectations campus‑wide. Monitor student progress continuously and adapt coaching approaches based on data rather than intuition. Cultivate trusted mentor relationships with students and their families through consistent high expectations and documented accountability plans. What You Won’t Be Doing Deliver lessons, create curriculum, or evaluate assignments—Alpha's AI‑powered instructional model manages academics; you manage motivation. Present to a full classroom of 30 students (your focus is intensive coaching in small groups, not traditional teaching). Supervise other staff or advance through an administrative hierarchy (this role centers on direct student outcomes, not organizational management). Attend faculty meetings or deal with institutional bureaucracy (your schedule remains student-focused). Compromise standards to meet quotas (if a student achieves 99%, your role is to uncover what prevented 100%). At least one documented instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, globally recognized field (examples: national or international competition medals, top‑tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture). At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership roles where you measurably improved others' performance. Willing to work in‑person at an Alpha campus in Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA (relocation support provided). Legal right to work in the United States. Nice‑to‑have Requirements Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with coaching or mentoring experience for younger athletes. Experience in high‑accountability settings such as management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership. Proven record of youth development through mentoring in non‑academic contexts (community organizations, after‑school programs, sports camps). Confidence presenting to and establishing trust with high‑expectation families investing in premium private school tuition.
