Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) — a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amounts (up to $200,000) and eligibility periods (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications United States Citizenship (Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy) Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA-approved school Full and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program, leading to eligibility for board certification. (Other acceptable training pathways are defined for non-US residency programs or post‑medical‑school training.) Board eligibility or board certification in Psychiatry Proficiency in spoken and written English Physical ability to walk, talk, drive, use telephone and computer; light lifting up to 15 pounds; acceptance of hearing aid if needed PRPs (Physician Resident Providers) are permitted under defined circumstances and must hold full licenses and operate under supervision Additional requirements may apply as outlined in the full job announcement Duties Provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment to veterans at the Clearlake and Santa Rosa Community‑Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) Collaborate with the behavioral health interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, efficient, and compassionate care Maintain patient outcomes and participate in effective clinical program activities Practice within the scope of assigned privileges and comply with facility bylaws, rules, and regulations Meet medical staff criteria for initial appointment and reappointment, including continuing medical education Adhere to prescribed record‑keeping practices, information security policy, and confidentiality requirements Work effectively with patients, families, staff, coworkers, and other health professionals Participate in medical service educational activities, scheduled meetings, and peer reviews to maintain quality assurance Complete assigned health record reviews and other documentation within identified timeframes Perform additional duties as assigned by the medical staff executive committee or facility leadership Benefits Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50‑55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 days paid absence for CME) Traditional federal pension (five‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution Full federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long‑term care insurance, with many programs carried into retirement Malpractice coverage: free liability protection with tail coverage provided Flexible work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. No employment contract; no restrictions on moonlighting EDRP recruitment incentive (sign‑on bonus) subject to eligibility: Former EDRP participants are ineligible Possible $1,000 per year CME reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification) #J-18808-Ljbffr
