Clinical Nutrition Specialist | NICU, Pediatrics and Adult Acute Care

Job Title: Clinical Nutrition Specialist Department: Food and Nutrition Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: 40 hours/week Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift, rotating weekend coverage Sign-On Bonus: Up to $15,000 SUMMARY Provides nutritional care of at risk patients/residents and acts as a consultant to other health care professionals in determining the best nutritional care options for their patients/residents. This position will cover in the NICU and pediatrics along with adult acute care coverage. The RGH NICU is a 15-bed, level II unit. The pediatric unit is a 12-bed, general pediatric unit and can have a mix of adult patients. The adult unit for this position will cover a 24-bed gen/med surge unit. RESPONSIBILITIES Assessment: Complete nutritional assessments for all patients; provide input into Nutritional Support Service rounds for assigned patients; monitor and document patient progress. Nutritional Therapy Planning: Provide recommendations for formulations, rate and volume for all tube fed and TPN patients. Instruct patients and families on special diets and general good nutrition. Patient Care: Develop plan of care per clinical data, interview, diagnosis and treatment goals; provide oversight to dietetic technicians providing patient care. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1 year of clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian. Bachelor’s Degree from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) accredited program. Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of two (2) years of acute clinical experience. Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements for nutrition care. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical thinking and computer skills. EDUCATION BS (Required) LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS RDN - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist - Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS M - Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
