Job Purpose & Position Overview Receives patients, explains procedures, positions patients, selects technical factors, sets accessory equipment, and makes exposures necessary for requested procedures. Works with patients to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Monitors patients' vital signs. Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities Perform a variety of radiographic examinations, including difficult and complex studies, using appropriate exposure techniques. Determine technical factors (referring, interpreting, and applying procedural guidelines) and correct exposure settings (time, distance, kVp, mAs). Control image quality through patient positioning, compression, and image production. Establish requirements for non‑standard examinations and determine positioning and number of images needed. Apply radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques; perform QC for assigned modalities. Carry out digital radiology duties (loading readers, pushing images to PACS, electronic editing and annotating). Maintain, troubleshoot, and record data for cassette readers, PACS, and radiology IT equipment. Represent the department in staff meetings, recommending adoption of new developments. Plan and coordinate work operations in the radiology department and requisition supplies. Maintain accurate records of patient workload, examinations, views, and technical factors used. Adhere to all safety and quality standards and work under minimal supervision. Required Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field and at least 2 years of applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. ARRT registered technologist. 1–2 years of CT training and experience. Knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques, anatomy, physiology, and radiation protection standards. Proficiency in digital radiology workflow and PACS operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to read, write, calculate, and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision. Good social interaction skills and reasoning/analysis ability. Capable of maintaining accreditation through ARRT, completing the mandatory 24 continuing education units per biennium. Compliance with 45 CFR 1301 requirements regarding criminal background disclosures. Physical & Cognitive Requirements Physical: normal to light office work, lifting up to 10 lb, walking, standing, sitting for extended periods, using hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and office equipment. Ability to talk and hear. Cognitive: reading, writing, calculating, above‑average social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, minimal supervision, language fluency in English. Shift & Specialty Shift: overnights, 12‑hour shifts, Friday–Sunday. Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging – CT Technologist, Radiologic Technologist. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations Maintain accreditation through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Required trainings include completion of 24 continuing education units per biennium. Compliance with regulations for Mammographer, CT technologist, and other applicable MT licenses.
