Position Overview and Responsibilities:

In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department’s Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.

Serves as the HR coordinator for the Division of Recreation and Parks’ District Office, consisting of personnel management of approximately 200 full-time employees in addition to varying numbers of OPS employees depending on the time of year, and in certain instances volunteers. Provides guidance and expert advice to park management and administrative staff in each park within the district for all HR related topics. Acts as the HR liaison between district staff and Land and Recreation’s HR office and DEP’s Bureau of Human Resource Management. Provides assistance with the People First system to include, but not be limited to, Requisitions, PARs, system training, and timesheet submission and un-approvals. Provides assistance with the development and distribution of internal and external job opportunity announcements. Supervises OPS employee.

Coordinates with over 24 parks to conduct recruitment, advertisements, hiring, promotions, reassignments, retirements, terminations and voluntary demotions. Oversees employee confidential information to include social security numbers, information protected from public records, employee personnel files, medical information relating to workers comp, FMLA, medical monitoring and other information that may be included on employment applications. Official timekeeper for all full-time and OPS positions in the District. Maintains official leave records for District. Oversees performance evaluation reporting for all positions within the District. Oversees position descriptions for all positions within the District, working with Park Management to review and amend as necessary.

In addition to the HR responsibilities – this position also oversees the following programs for all parks and personnel within the District: Training administration, travel administration to include, but not be limited to, travel reservations, travel authorizations, travel reimbursements, Incident reports, exotic removal weapons authorization, District emergency contact list, monthly reporting from Parks, records all District meetings and distributes information as applicable, housing perquisites, shoe allowance for District, and District records retention, Park Protection Plans and Telephone Trees, coordinates and submits District Cherwell tasks.

This position also handles special assignments from District management and Tallahassee offices as assigned and other duties as assigned.

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Pay:

$3,360.07 monthly/$40,320.81 annually
