EPP Department Manager - Southeast

Job Summary Full‑time Department Manager for the Southeast Area Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) Department. Oversees approximately 60 professionals located throughout the southeastern United States who serve federal, state and local governments as well as private clients. The manager improves revenue growth through collaboration with sales leads, maintains high staff utilization, manages departmental P&L, and mentors staff. Responsibilities Provides leadership and direction through managers and professional staff and leads efforts to grow company technical expertise. Responsible for the financial performance of the department. Reviews proposals for technical and financial content. Develops business plans and tracks/ manages financial performance. Advises regional business managers on growth, staff recruitment and retention, and technical excellence strategies. Recruit and helps retain staff at all levels. Maintains technical role as project manager, lead verifier or technical lead as appropriate. Works closely with Project Delivery Leads to drive project financial performance and client satisfaction. Leads and supports business development opportunities. Anticipates and solves routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse natural resource activities. Drives execution of tactical business plans with direction from a regional business line leader for growth and profitability of the regional business line, and implements global business line strategy and programs. Drives regional business development activities, regional client management for the business line and manages regional business line resources, providing input into strategic/operating plans. Directs the work of associates performing different tasks under the same field. Applies in‑depth knowledge of all aspects of the field of expertise, along with interpersonal and problem‑solving skills. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in Environmental Sciences (or related) + 10 years of related experience or equivalency, including 2 years of leadership. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review. U.S. citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications MA or MS in Environmental Sciences or an MBA. 15+ years of experience in Natural Resource Investigations related to state and federal permitting in the southeastern U.S. Ability to independently manage interdisciplinary teams delivering complex environmental documents. Demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Previous experience managing technical staff. Previous experience in fiscal management and reporting for complex projects or cost centers. Benefits Competitive salary range: USD 170,000 – USD 220,000 annually.
