Assistant Town Accountant
$22 - $30 per hourTown of Halifax
The Town of Halifax is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Assistant Town Accountant for the Town Accountants Office. This position is responsible for processing bill warrants and payroll warrants for the Town and School entering revenues and reconciling with the Town Treasurer-Collectors Office entering and reconciling commitments and abatements from the Board of Assessors Office.
The successful candidate must be detail oriented good with numbers discrete accurate proficient in Microsoft Excel data processing and have good communication skills. An Associates degree or 3 to 5 years of office experience is required preferably in a municipality. Experience using SoftRight or other municipal financial management systems is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of Massachusetts General Laws surrounding municipal accounting and the Universal Massachusetts Accounting System (UMAS) manual is desired.
As a condition of employment the successful candidate must be CORI certified (background check) and hold a valid Massachusetts Class D drivers license.
Pay range: $22.36 per hour to $30.05 per hour (Grade 4). This is a full-time (40 hours per week) union position and is eligible for benefits.
