Shop Service Technician I - Utilities

Primary Job Role Conduct all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to safety, environmental and contamination control policies, procedures and regulations. Wears proper personal protective equipment. Attend and successfully complete required technician training classes. Maintain the necessary set of tools required for job performance to diagnose, disassemble and assemble components to manufacturer’s specifications. Diagnose and perform designated repairs on customer or company owned equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs. Work in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways to improve methods of work, the work area, and safety standards. Inspect components to ensure maximum parts are reused to control repair costs. Complete required documentation utilizing appropriate software to document repairs performed on equipment, and account for repair times. Monitor job expenses versus repair estimates and ensure the supervisor is aware of any cost overrun prior to job completion. Approach work positively, maintain supportive conduct, set the standard for others, contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations. Train and mentor others in the department. Assume the supervisor’s position temporarily, as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Education And Experience Formal Education: High School diploma or GED. Experience: 5–6 years. Required / Credentials: Completed all required training curriculum to be designated a Tech I.; able to comprehend written material, communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers. Not Required But Highly Desired Criteria Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and relevant dealer software programs. Successfully completed relevant specialized equipment technical courses. Updating of Knowledge Job requirements frequently change requiring re‑training once or more per year.
